2022 MIPS Attestation

The 2022 MIPS performance year has officially ended. Now it's time to submit your data through the process of attestation. Attesting to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) is a requirement for successful participation and helps ensure that you receive financial incentives from Medicare Part B.

To successfully attest, you must provide accurate and complete information regarding your MIPS performance period. This means reporting data for Improvement Activities, Quality Data, and Promoting Interoperability. Cost data is tracked and calculated through administrative claims. Once you have submitted your attestation, you will receive an acknowledgment email within 2-3 business days.

Submitting data through QPP Attestation is the first step to successfully participating in the MIPS program. The system can be daunting and time consuming, so it is important to familiarize yourself with all of the necessary requirements before submitting.

If you have data to report through your EMR vendor or registry you will need to ensure the vendor is ready and be sure to have their instructions on data submission and be mindful of their deadlines. Vendor deadlines are usually earlier than CMS deadlines.

When you attest before to capture screen shots as proof, just in case there are any errors in the submission itself. This can also be useful to ensure the data reported aligns with QPP scoring feedback that will be provided by CMS in July of 2023.
